Physical Damage Insurance

Covers your own trucks and trailers, whether or not the accident was your fault.

What it covers

  • Collision: damage from hitting another vehicle or object, or a rollover
  • Comprehensive: fire, theft, vandalism, hail, flood and animal strikes
  • Trucks and trailers you list on the policy, up to the value you state for each

Getting the value right

Each truck and trailer is insured for the value you state on the application. Include permanently attached equipment, electronics, tarps, chains and binders in that value so they are covered too. If a unit is financed, the stated value should be at least what you still owe on it.

Who needs it

If your equipment is financed or leased, your lender will require it. If you own your equipment outright, it is what gets you back on the road after a loss.

Deductibles

You choose a deductible for each loss. A higher deductible lowers the premium; a lower deductible means less out of pocket after an accident.

This is a general description, not a policy. What is covered depends on the terms, limits and exclusions of the policy that is issued.
